Delicious + Healthy Fare In A Gorgeous Atmosphere @ The Grain Cafe

It is surprisingly-spacious inside this restaurant despite seeming on the more ghetto spectrum from the outside. It's beautifully-decorated with a very Hispanic/ Native American essence with a rustic twist. The music is always upbeat and kind of makes you want to dance a little salsa before your meal.

The menu is as impressive as the restaurant, and if you are a vegan or vegetarian, you will absolutely adore this place. EVERYTHING is vegan, and you have your pick of the litter, from loaded breakfast plates tailored after tried-and-true favorites like Huevos Rancheros and Breakfast Burritos to Crepes that vary from sweet to savory, waffles that do the same, pancakes, salads, pizzas, sandwiches, burgers, and even wraps. Yes, it is an enormous menu, so make sure you come with plenty of time to enjoy your meal.

To start, I tried the Tropical Crepe with mango, strawberries, kiwi, blackberries, banana, chocolate syrup, and whipped cream. It is as sweet as you can imagine, but the chocolate flavor is nicely-balanced by the tartness of the fruits in there.

The Wet Burrito with black beans, brown rice, guacamole, Daiya cheese, red bell pepper, caramelized onions, and lettuce, with your choice of vegan chicken, tempeh, or their soy-free burger patty, and topped with salsa roja or their spicier salsa verde, is a beast of a burrito! This may be the only meal you have in a day. If you're allergic to carbs, stay away! And it is on the spicier side, so be warned.

On their drinks menu, you have your choice of espresso, smoothies, organic cold drinks, and loose leaf teas. My personal favorite was the Hot Maca with Maca, cinnamon, and steamed Silk soy creamer; it is a very cinnamon-y drink, but oh-so-delicious. It is more of a soothing Wintertime drink, and doesn't really suit this hot LA weather, but if you like drinking hot coffee, this is a healthier alternative.

Judging from the rave reviews and the amount of regulars I saw here on my first visit, you can tell that everything else on this sizable menu is going to be off-the-charts amazing. And I love that even among vegan restaurants, they take into account whether or not you have a soy and gluten allergy and make the food as allergy-friendly as they can. The service is also super-sweet, and you can bet I'll want to come back here for seconds.

Oh, and bonus points: They cater!
