Fig & Olive Provides The Perfect Upscale Brunch Experience In West Hollywood

First of all, what a gorgeous place, this is! It has the makings of an upscale diner's dream. Excellent service, superb cuisine, high-quality drinks, and an atmosphere that makes you feel absolutely desirable from the inside-out. The spacious interior offers a lounge, an opulent 2-story dining room, and a slightly more private back room for more intimate dining.

The drinks menu gives you anything you could want to get the juices flowing, from wine by the glass to fancy cocktails that shift their flavors seasonally to accommodate the time of year. A few they keep throughout the year, though, like their signature Fig & Olive cocktail made with muddled grapes, basil, lemon juice, New Amsterdam gin, & Lillet Blanc. The sweetness from the grapes is subtle, and the lemon juice adds a refreshing hint of citrus to balance out the alcohol. I know it's a long shot that you'll be here for the Autumn cocktail season, but that Apple Cider Brandy cocktail is AMAZING! Subtly-sweet, smooth, with floral & pear undertones throughout every sip… It is one of my favorite cocktails, thus far!

They start you off with their olive oil tasting plate which comes with slices of soft, decadent bread and 3 different types of high-quality olive oil that they happen to be showcasing at any given time. The menu offers a bit for everyone, from delicious Crostini that you can order in 3's or 6's and get your pick of burrata, mushroom, Kabocha (Japanese Pumpkin), goat cheese, shrimp, prosciutto, manchego, & a few others. Pick your poison, mix & match; they're all amazing. The Mushroom Croquettes with truffle aioli & parmesan are a clear favorite for patrons of this restaurant; with good reason. Savory, a bit tangy from the parm, & pipingly-hot straight from the kitchen to your table. They fall apart in your mouth, so be careful of burning your taste buds off!

The rest of the menu offers a hefty selection of local favorites throughout the day. From French toast, omelets, steak, eggs, & salmon for breakfast, to signature burgers, sandwiches, steak frites, & light, yet filling salads for lunch. The burger is up there with one of the best you'll find around. Cooked to absolute perfection, per your tastes, & made with your choice of Gorgonzola, Fontina, or Swiss cheese with a few garnishes of their own and a side of perfectly-crispy fries for good measure. The service must be commended. Not only was my waitress super-attentive and patient with all my questions, but she even brought out an extra serving of dessert, on the house, to round out my meal nicely. Trust me, the dessert tasting plate here is not to be missed!

Yes, it is a bit of a hassle to get to this area. But sometimes you come across a restaurant that is well-worth the effort, and pleases you from start to finish. This is definitely up there with some of the best. Enjoy!
