Healthy Halloween! Stay Health Conscious This Halloween with These Healthier Treats

To Hell with haunted houses, vampires and creatures of the night, what scares us parents the most on Halloween is sweets and cakes of all kinds that invade our supermarkets shelves! After a summer filled with fruit, sun and fresh vegetables, we have no desire to feed our children with sweet junk, full of dyes and additives.

That's why we've prepared for you and your kids a list of easy, spooky and healthy recipe ideas. Halloween yes, but a healthy Halloween.

Black Halloween Candy Apples

Apples are a firm favorite for fall, but this recipe spices them up and makes them little more scary for Halloween. Here, the traditional red caramel is replaced with a black color. The result is as beautiful as it is delicious. Young and old will enjoy chewing in these pretty apples.

STEP 1

Wash and dry the apples. Remove the tail, then push wooden sticks until 2/3 of the apple, without drilling. Book.

STEP 2

Pour the sugar into a saucepan. Add the water. Bring to a boil then turn the heat slightly to prevent the caramel from burning and let simmer until the mixture turns golden brown. To check the cooking, drop a drop of caramel in a glass of water: the drop should solidify immediately. Remove the pan from the heat when ready

STEP 3

Add the dye drop by drop while mixing well.

STEP 4

Dip the apples into the black caramel, coating them well, then place them, stick up, on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

STEP 5

Let cool for 40 minutes at room temperature. Refrigerate for 1 hour then enjoy.

Haunted Halloween Pancakes

Looking for a quick and easy recipe to treat your kids at Halloween? We offer delicious pancakes to prepare in a jiffy.

The children will also be able to get their hands dirty for this one, because this preparation is very simple. Enjoy:

STEP 1

In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, powdered sugar, orange dye and salt. Dig a well. Pour the melted butter and eggs. Mix well. Gradually add the milk while mixing to avoid lumps. Let the dough rest for 30 minutes.

STEP 2

Heat a nonstick skillet. Pour a small ladle of dough into the hot pan. When bubbles appear on the surface of the pancake, turn it over and continue cooking 1 min. Arrange the pancake on a plate and repeat the operation until the dough is gone.

STEP 3

Arrange the spread in a pastry bag. Decorate your pancakes with the spread. Draw pumpkins, spiders or ghosts.
