Yes, Studio City is quite the drive, whether you happen to live in LA, or just outside of it. But sometimes, there comes along a restaurant that makes those 2+ hours in traffic worth it. And I was pleasantly surprised by all the high marks this cool little joint has to offer. Unassuming on the outside, but spacious, chill, & and comfortable on the inside. Of course, I HAVE to rave about the (good) crazy brunch options they serve here, from their unique offering of Fried Chicken & Waffles to their decadent flatbread selection & out-of-this-world pizzas. Add to that a comfy & spacious atmosphere with a dollop of complimentary valet parking on the weekends, and you have a match made in foodie heaven.
To start, get your booze order out of the way quick so you can get to the food. That may be easier said than done, as they have a carefully-selected menu of craft beers, hand-crafted cocktails (a modest portion), & a sizable wine list with “Six Curiously Different Wines” thrown in for good measure. Everything here comes in sixes, which is also pretty cool.
To begin, I highly recommend you order one of their delicious starters. The Mac 'n' Cheese Fritters with a side of both ranch & barbecue sauce is an amazing dish, & their Avocado Ricotta Crostini with cherry tomatoes & a balsamic reduction tastes great, as well.
The entrees include “Six Salads” that range from Prosciutto & Asparagus to quinoa with chicken; whether you're looking for healthiness or heartiness, these guys will have the perfect salad for you. They also offer tacos, burgers, & sandwiches, which go from Crispy Chicken to Cubanos, Salmon Tartar to Korean BBQ Pulled Pork. Honestly, you won't run out of options, in this place.
The Fried Chicken & Waffles is an amazing version of the all-time favorite brunch food. The chicken isn't crispy per sé, but has a nice little give to it with plenty of flavor; the waffles were a bit burnt on the edges for my tastes, but it was nothing a bit of that maple syrup couldn't fix.
I absolutely LOVED that Peach Royale Pizza with roasted brown butter peach slices, crispy prosciutto, & De Stefano Burrata with a nice balsamic drizzle to top it all off.
If the few things I've mentioned here aren't enough to whet your appetite, there may be something wrong with your taste buds. Nothing disappointed on my first visit here, & it's definitely a place you'll want to frequent to get the full gamut of their creative menu.
Oh, and don't worry about them closing in the middle of the day like so many places in LA. These guys are open ALL. DAY. LONG. For the win!
