Yes, while I'm sure yours is lovely, too, I'm actually talking about the cozy restaurant in a quiet little corner in Los Feliz that literally looks like it's someone's impressive abode.The style is “rustic cabin” mixed with “hipster Loz Feliz” and despite the traffic speeding past outside, it feels a bit like an oasis in here with plenty of privacy and a comfortable space to dine in.
I highly recommend eating in their shady patio, as it makes for a very relaxing atmosphere as far as brunch experiences go. Don't worry about it getting too hot in the Summer as the whole patio is shaded by gorgeous trees that provide plenty of breeze as well as coverage from the Sun.
The menu is pretty huge and specializes in comfort food with an up-leveled, modern, almost healthy twist, (but not quite). If you're a major foodie like me, there will definitely be a lot on the menu that jumps out at you and screams, “EAT ME!” The Fried Chicken & Waffles are a definite MUST.
If you're here in the middle of the week and don't want to splurge on the calories that much, do what I did and meet the calories halfway with the Crispy Chicken Sandwich; it's made with their delicious fried chicken & comes topped with sweet chili slaw, cilantro, black sesame seeds, chipotle aioli on a warm brioche bun. It has a bit of a Thai influence thanks to that slaw, and almost too sweet, but it is still up there with one of the best crispy chicken sandwiches I've ever had and pairs perfectly with either their waffle fries or their house-made chips.
The breakfast portion of the menu is off the charts and has a lil' sumthin' to please every palate, from decked out egg dishes and chilaquiles to slightly-healthier breakfast favorites like buckwheat pancakes and Mediterranean fritatta. The lunch menu is equally as impressive with hearty sandwiches, wraps, & burgers, to lighter salads & starters. There are also quite a few vegetarian and vegan options for the pickier eaters out there.
My recommendations for breakfast: Ask to get one of the Buckwheat Pancakes with fruit and order yourself the breakfast burrito, as well. They're both too good to be missed and that breakfast burrito is amazeballs. The pancakes are a healthier, yet no less delicious, version of the original and have a bit of heft to them. You can order both, but chances are you won't be able to finish them and they don't hold up too well for later.
A sweet little bonus to this place is that there is a cozy little coffee shop, literally, right next door. In fact, you can actually get there by walking through what is essentially the living/ dining room of this cool house of a restaurant and ordering a drink there and walking back to your table in the back.
The coffee shop is a separate business, with a menu all its own- including interesting cocktails available at all times throughout the day and a well-rounded menu of its own- but it shares the same owner as the restaurant, so you're free to come and go as you please. The coffee is legit, so if you love your java, you have to give this joint a try, as well.
During the week it gets pretty busy, but not so much that you have to wait very long for a table- though you will most likely have to pay $5 for valet parking. On the weekends, it's a different story; there will be a wait, you will have to pay for parking, and it will be extra crowded.
At first, the service feels on the colder side of lukewarm, so be ready for that when you come. The second time around, though, chances are you will be remembered and the service will feel friendlier; that's how it was for me, anyway.
Still worth a visit, though!
