Satisfy Your Worldly Cravings @ Wanderlust Creamery In LA

Flight Around The World — by Juvi Guevara

This small and unassuming ice cream shop may not seem like a lot from the outside, (or from the inside, for that matter), the ice cream case looks unimpressive, and there is nothing else- not even a restroom- to break up the monotony of the somewhat drab interior. Okay, it's not really that bad, but I was expecting a bit more after hearing so much about this place.

However!

Once I read the unique worldly flavors they had on offer, I thought, "Who cares about the flooring and lack of decor?! They have Ube and Mango-Freaking-Sticky-Rice Ice Cream!!!" I sampled a few others of their delicious flavors like the Pretzel Rugbraud from Iceland and the Smoky Road from the Pacific Northwest, (yes, they really do venture off the beaten path at this ice cream parlor), but I knew within my heart of hearts that the Mango Sticky Rice and Ube were the way to go. Given that they're both from Asian countries, they both blended really well together on my purple ube waffle cone. Truly, Baskin Robbins has nothing on this place.

For those of you with really diverse tastes and several friends to help you finish it, consider getting the 'Flight Around The World.' If you've ever heard of a beer flight, it's essentially the same thing, only with ice cream. You get to try all of their eclectic flavors in a single sitting, including their uniquely flavored cones like the Ube Waffle Cone. Believe me, you won't be disappointed in these world-inspired flavors.

If any of you suffer from a gluten or dairy intolerance, you're in luck! They have a few vegan options with equally-delicious world inspiration like the Irish Cider sorbet; it is on the lighter side, but packs just as much flavor. Toppings also abound, in case the ice cream itself isn't enough to placate that enormous sweet tooth and delicate palate of yours; and with options like Malted Milk Balls and Vegan Coconut Butterscotch, you'd have to be crazy not to like at least SOMETHING on this menu. Take-away versions are also available.

And while the place itself may be small, there is a nice little courtyard area right outside where you and your four-legged friends can chill and enjoy your ice cream.

Inventive concept. Delicious attention to detail. Unforgettable flavor experience. What more could you want?
